Hey everybody,

I'm just dropping in to say hi. I hope everybody's doing well. My welcome to new members.

I'm almost done with my BA in linguistics. I want to get a PhD in Early Chinese Studies but before I do that I get to go China and learn Chinese! I start this summer, hopefully, here in America and then continue at this same university in the Fall and Spring Semesters. Then hopefully I can get a job teaching English somewhere where they speak the standard dialect.

And I'm still dabbling and thinking about Atlantean. Since Summer, I've been working on Egyptian Hieroglyphic and Biblical Hebrew in my free time, French in class, and warm-ups in Chinese. I did Vulcan for a while, too, and some more Classical Ethiopic if I remember right.

I'll drop a sample text by the Lessons before I leave.

Take care! Gamok!

I'm glad you're back! Congratulations in advance on your BA! I took a class in ancient Egyptian hieratic and hieroglyph when I was in college, it was a lot of fun! Good luck with the rest if the semster.

Actually, we're a pretty small school, but we were very lucky--one of our history professors is some kind of superhuman. He speaks like a zillion languages (off the top of my head: English, Spanish, Hebrew, Ancient Egyptian, Arabic, and he can read ancient Maya stuff [although I don't know if the language for that has been broken down or if it's just one of those 'we can partially figure out what stuff means' things...either way, he can do it]); he's worked as an archaeologist in both the middle east AND in South America, he's knowledgeable in Biblical archaeology, Egyptian archaeology, Maya archaeology, AND Inca archaeology. He's crazy awesome!! I don't know how he had the time to do all that.

BUT he's retiring after this semester! I was in one of the last sections of ancient Egyptian that's probably ever going to be offered at SSU. I WAS SO LUCKY!!! *^_^*

I have the same professor in my project =)
Pre-history. Russian students need to use their knowledge to continue graduating, it is called "Practice", or "Praktika". But our universities is very poor, so, they are using students to: clean, to build, repair, or etc. work for their needs, instead of command them to the real factories.
Im a programmer, so i decide not to move papers from one place to another. There was a commercial project in the institute (innovative cracher for rocks. Looks like a blaster :o ), with a tons of calculating, but no one of ours programmers had an wish to join - too difficult for them. I tryed, and after two weeks we got an result. During the project, i met the man, who can make a Furie transformation by heart, and who knows ALL technical disciplines of our speciality. Kinda crazy too, but it's really interesting to work with him, and especially interesting that we are not working with smth already done, but moving to nowere =))
If Scientists in our country were not so poor, i will be the one of them. So bad, that it is only my hobbie...
