The first time you saw Atlantis

#1 Post by Kidagakash85 » Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:26 pm

Let's talk about the first time we saw the movie. When did you first see it? How old were you? Is there a story behind it?

I first saw the move when it came out in summer 2001, when I was 15. I think I saw it only a few days after it hit the theater. I wound up seeing it 3 times in theaters, which is the most I've seen any movie (tied with The Princess and the Frog, which I saw 3 times this winter :)).

It's funny, because when I first started seeing ads for the movie (they started playing them on the Disney channel in around February or something), I had absolutely NO interest in seeing the movie. All the ads were showing the scenes where they were traveling to Atlantis, but no indication of what would happen when they got there. It looked incredibly boring.

But then, a month or so before the movie came out, I saw the Kida doll in the Disney catalog. I still had no interest in the movie, but the doll was so pretty that I decided to buy her. When the doll came, I read the synopsis on the back of the box:
Submerge yourself in the adventure of a lifetime! Join PRINCESS KIDA and MILO as they search for the lost city of Atlantis. Discover the secrets and powers of the ancient civilization hidden deep inside magical glowing crystals. Experience the magic of Atlantis as you journey through oceans of wonder and amazement!
Now THAT was an interesting sounding movie! Granted, the box synopsis isn't exactly accurate, but the point is that it got me interested in the movie! So I went to the movie website and watched the online trailer, which showcased scenes from within Atlantis as opposed to the scenes of searching for Atlantis. Then I couldn't wait, I HAD to see this movie!! The rest is history. :D

So, let's hear your stories!

I heard it had something to do with the Fountain of Youth.

I can't believe they're making a fourth one. Is Jack Sparrow going to be the only recurring character in it?

Well... Tim Burton has this habit of putting the same style of music AND Johnny Depp in alot of his movies. Besides who else would they even consider to play the part as "Cap'n Jack Sparrow" Dude just.... fits the part perfectly, just like Return to Wonderland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I didn't mean that they would recast Jack Sparrow, I meant since they (spoilers, highlight to read) pretty much killed off Will in the 3rd one, that means that Will and Elizabeth are not going to be in this one, right? So Jack Sparrow is the only major recurring character (i.e. the only one who is in all 4 movies), unless someone else from the original 3 is going to be in it as well.

Also, Tim Burton's not involved with the Pirates franchise... :?

nah, i meant in general. Lets see... they killed of Calypso, Davy, and a few others from the second and third...

Elizabeth has Will's heart and i believe was pregnant at the end of the third. So you can bet the storyline will include those two chars. perhaps Will escaping the ships curse of it needing a Captain. I would wager Sparrows crew will return *once he catches up to his ship* and maybe a new new friends-foes, either way, it's gonna rock. Anybody going to see Iron Man 2 come May 7th?

Sweet, This topic took alot of thought.... I didn't see ATLE in movie theaters because i didn't have much interest in it, until one of the commercials that had the whole 'do you swim' skit in it. I was like "Damn, she is a hottie" I was only like.... 13 at the time.. but later when the movie came out on DVD i saw it with my sister and aunt up at my aunts house... from that day on... well yeah. I've pretty much been the worlds biggest Kida fan. believe it or not, i have been more of Kida fan then a fan of the movie. *seen the first one... twice, and the sequel once* So in a sense the movie changed my life.

Guess what i got in the mail today? straight from Japan.

As for what going to happen in the new Pirate movie the only two big people that will be back will be Depp as Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. Will and Elizabeth's story ended after the credits of the third movie when you see Will come back after the ten years to see his wife and son. The story will be about Sparrow and Barbossa looking for the Fountain of Youth on which they got the map in the third movie. They will introduce Blackbeard in the fourth movie. From what I heard the movie will start in the port of Orleans (New Orleans) and will latter move into Florida to find the fountain of youth.

Epic! I never saw the very ending to the third movie. Seems like an epic 4th installment to the series. I am preying they didn't screw up Iron Man 2 like what they did w/ all the Spider Man movies...
