Their Meeting in the Manga

The manga, being a redrawn and slightly modified Japa-nese version of the original Italian comics, portrays a fairly similar meeting for Elyon and Cedric: they meet at the Halloween party on Elyon's birthday. However, the manga, having been created with the intention of a shoujo-manga, magical-girl loving audience, placed a much more romantic, fairytale feeling on the entire situation, which I thought was very nice, so I definitely wanted to make mention of it on their fanlisting. ^_^

The differences between the comic scene and the manga scene are subtle but beautiful and effective. Rather than approaching Cedric for the first time on a crowded dance floor with strobe lights and loud music, Elyon meets him outside the gym, on the steps leading down to a garden filled with Greek-like architecture and rosebushes galore. There, as the wind plays with her hair and skirt and rose petals dance on the breeze, she encounters Cedric, who is kneeling before her, wearing a uniform that screams "Shitennou-from-Sailor Moon," as opposed to that red and white mask-thingy that he wore in the comics. The text boxes are covered with little rosettes for added effect. When he leaves her, she stares dreamily after him. Later at the masquerade (after he's disguised himself as a Japanese feudal lord o_O), he holds her as the fireworks explode. See what I mean? Just little things, but you definitely get a sense of the romance the manga artist wanted to instill in the scene.
