Season 2, Episode 6: 'F' Is For Facades
This is just about the Season 2 equivalent of "Caleb's Challenge" for Aldarn fans. Except Aldarn wasn't in the promos. BUT, in a clear tribute to rabid Aldarn fans, Miranda says this. Undoubtedly, this is the best line in the W.I.T.C.H. animated series, ever.
The episode begins with a big celebration, honoring the war heroes of the Phobos rebellion. Caleb, Aldarn, Julian (Caleb's father) and Drake (that blond guy who was in like one episode and made me mad last season when he stole Aldarn's thunder), are being presented with medals for their bravery by Queen Elyon. Aldarn and Caleb embarrassedly wave, and then Aldarn says that he has to get back to his post (to which Caleb replies, "Lucky," or something to that effect).
As Aldarn heads down the steps away from the palace, he gets attacked by Raythor, one of the Knights of Vengeance who...apparently...was in the last season? Except I don't think so. Aldarn draws his sword and attempts to fight him off, but Raythor unleashes a mighty sand attack of doom, which engulfs Aldarn and sweeps him away.
Meanwhile, Julian and the Mage make subliminal hints about Caleb's parental lineage, and nobody wonders what happened to our green hero except me. My question is answered before long, however. We find Aldarn imprisoned in a dark, dank cave with nothing but a stool as his companion. He tells the Knights of Vengeance that their days are numbered, and flings the stool into the wall in a temper tantrum, while Frost pouts that Aldarn got a medal and he didn't. No, really. Frost wants a medal.
A few days later, Julian and Drake are strategizing about deploying Aldarn's men (Aldarn has his own army?! XD) when they realize that they haven't seen him in awhile. Conveniently, just then, a swarm of bats swoops in and attacks them, followed by just about every other Knight of Vengeance. They get pwned, and whisked away to join Aldarn in his cavern of doom. Unfortunately for the Knights, the gargoyle who "whisked" them away isn't very subtle, so just about everyone in Meridian noticed the kidnapping.
Miranda gets captured by "The Mage" (*snicker*) and Elyon corners her and demands to know where they've taken Julian and Drake, leading to the greatest line in W.I.T.C.H. history. Caleb agrees to go with Miranda in exchange for Aldarn, Julian, and Drake. Naturally, the Guardians follow with Blunk the Mighty leading the way. They battle, and Blunk gets captured and thrown in the cave with the ever-growing assortment of rebel leaders.
Miranda and Frost fight about how to off Aldarn and friends (Miranda wants to keep the cute little green one for herself, of course). Nerissa comes in and pwns them all for acting without her permission, which alerts Will and the others to the KoV's location. There's a big huge fight, and Cornelia manages to save Aldarn, Blunk, and Drake, but apparently Caleb and Julian were...lost? I guess Nerissa decided she wanted them for herself (gee, I wonder why? *snickers*). Cornelia cries and she and Aldarn make out in an attempt to heal the pain, and they all trot back to the palace where Aldarn plans to be really nice to his new girlfriend to help her forget about Caleb. Alas, mysteriously a portal opens up and Caleb and Julian come flying out, and everyone lives happily ever after. Except Aldarn, who mourns because Cornelia is really good at leading him on and then running off with his best friend.
Yay Aldarn! We love when you're in episodes!
