About
The fanlisting It seems to me that every time I see a new Barbie movie, I love it more than the last. I had thought it was physically impossible for a movie to be better than the perfection that was The Princess and the Pauper. Then I saw The Magic of Pegasus. This movie is beyond incredible. Back in 2001 when The Nutcracker came out, I was skeptical to say the least. Barbie had been in a disappointing slump for several years at this point (kind of like Disney, only Disney is still in theirs), and when I saw the ads I thought it was going to turn out just like all the other lame straight-to-video movies of the day. But Barbie was different. There's just something magical about the Barbie movies. They have the sparkle of the Disney movies of old, a sparkle that's been sorely missed by children, teenagers, and adults everywhere. It's just amazing what these writers have been able to pull off. The Nutcracker, Rapunzel, and Swan Lake we good, but as the
years have gone on, the Barbie movies have gotten somewhere along the lines of perfect. When The Magic of Pegasus was a month away from being released, I started feeling the excitement I used to get as a child when the new Disney movies were about to come out. Would it be good? Would this be the start of Barbie's downward slump, like Hunchback was for Disney?
I was not disappointed. From the moment it began, Pegasus had me in awe. The animation was, in my opinion, the best of the series (up until then, I thought Swan Lake had nailed it, which is sad because that's my least favorite of the Barbie movies--the Kellies and the ballet just did not do it for me). Kelly Sheridan is at her prime as a voice actress (Kelly? Rebellious teenager? So unexpected but so perfect!), and I squeed with delight when I realized that Mark Luna (Dominick from The Princess and the Pauper) was voicing Aiden. The ice skating, unlike the ballet from Nutcracker and Swan Lake, actually MADE SENSE and had a POINT to the story (not to mention the animation on the skating sequences was so cool)! At the end, I was filled with the warm fuzzies of satisfaction--that was a good movie. And, as my sister and I like to say about just about everything we like, "It deserves a fanlisting!" So, I present this humble site to you, to spread the Pegasus love. ♥
