I first saw the move when it came out in summer 2001, when I was 15. I think I saw it only a few days after it hit the theater. I wound up seeing it 3 times in theaters, which is the most I've seen any movie (tied with The Princess and the Frog, which I saw 3 times this winter ).
It's funny, because when I first started seeing ads for the movie (they started playing them on the Disney channel in around February or something), I had absolutely NO interest in seeing the movie. All the ads were showing the scenes where they were traveling to Atlantis, but no indication of what would happen when they got there. It looked incredibly boring.
But then, a month or so before the movie came out, I saw the Kida doll in the Disney catalog. I still had no interest in the movie, but the doll was so pretty that I decided to buy her. When the doll came, I read the synopsis on the back of the box:
Now THAT was an interesting sounding movie! Granted, the box synopsis isn't exactly accurate, but the point is that it got me interested in the movie! So I went to the movie website and watched the online trailer, which showcased scenes from within Atlantis as opposed to the scenes of searching for Atlantis. Then I couldn't wait, I HAD to see this movie!! The rest is history.Submerge yourself in the adventure of a lifetime! Join PRINCESS KIDA and MILO as they search for the lost city of Atlantis.
