Mara Minkmar

Mara is smart and tomboyish with a caring personality. The daughter of a famous athlete, Mara loves sports and is an expert at fitness and training. Mara is a good friend to most of the occupants of Anubis House, and is especially close to Luzy Schoppa. Studious as well as sporty, Mara is the Head Girl at Alexander Von Humboldt School and is popular with all her teachers. For most of Season One, Mara is in a relationship with Kaya Sahin, the hearthrob of the school. In Season Two, Mara volunteers to move into the attic when Charlotte Bachman transfers to the school. Once there, Mara starts to sense a supernatural presence—one she may have a mysterious connection to. Mara has a sister named Malika who attends a boarding school in Switzerland. Mara briefly considers moving to Switzerland to be with her, but decides to stay in Germany instead to pursue a relationship with Magnus.

Magnus von Hagen

Magnus has a reputation for being a prankster and a bit of a loser, and is largely disliked by everyone at the school. His only true friends are Felix Gaber and Mara Minkmar, whom he starts to fall for in mid-Season One. Despite his often self-serving schemes, he is very loyal to his friends: he confronts the Sibuna club when he believes that they poisoned Felix; and he will do anything to protect Mara. Magnus becomes mixed up in the mystery of the treasure when he overhears a meeting of the Sibuna Club, and he makes a deal with a shadowy museum curator named Zeno Trabas in order to get a cut of the loot. This is a bargain he soon comes to regret, as Zeno Trabas begins to threaten and blackmail him. Although he pretends that his father is a wealthy—albeit distant—entrepeneur, the truth is that his father is in prison and his mother is disinterested in him, focusing only on his half-sister.
