About Kuroki Mio

WARNING: This section contains spoilers through the final act of PGSM!

There's a new idol in town: Kuroki Mio. Taking the media by storm, Mio begins to become more popular than Aion Minako. Because of this, Usagi feels bitter towards the new idol, and still fully supports Aino Minako. Her friends claim that they still like Minako better, too, until Mio transfers to their school. Minako does not care for the new idol, either, but it's more than jut rivalry: she senses something amiss about this new pop sensation. Almost...evil. Ami soon becomes suspicous of the new girl during a game of volleyball where Mio targets Usagi and purposefully hits her with the volleyball, then kicks her.

At this point, it's obvious that Mio bears some kind of dislike for Usagi, but Mio cleverly manipulates Usagi into thinking she wants to be friends.

Who is Mio? And why does she not like Usagi? The first clue as to who she is appears when Mio asks Usagi who she likes. Usagi sweetly describes Mamoru, and at that moment, Mio crushes her ice cream cone. Mio's dislike/hatred towards Usagi and her apparent jealousy of Usagi's love for Mamoru can only lead to one person: Queen Beryl. That theory may have been questionable, because right after a youma attacks. Scared for her life, Mio clings onto Usagi, but the youma attacks them and Mio falls to the ground and injures her wrist. Usagi takes her to safe place and leaves her there until the youma is defeated.

After the youma runs off, Usagi returns to Mio to check on her wound. Makoto mentions that Venus must have been imagining things, because Mio doesn't seem suspicious. However, the next day at school, Usagi is greeted by cold, harsh looks from her peers. Momoko accuses Usagi of being the cause of Mio's wound, and Mio continues to manipulate the students into thinking that Usagi is a bad person, while at the same time making herself look good.

Mio's wickedness heightens as she hurts Naru for defending Usagi, makes Minako look like a bully in front of her supervisors, and tricks Usagi nito holding a concert for her class, promising her that Minako will be there. Minako does not show up for over 2 hours, Usagi is forced to apologize to her classmates, furtherly humiliated, while Mio watches on, laughing maliciously. Minako catches on to her deciet, however, and performs for the students. She warns Usagi that Mio was behind it all, and that she shouldn't be trusted.

Mio's manipulation of Usagi continues when Usagi is looking for a way to get to London. Acting as her savior, Mio offers her a job as a personal assistant to another idol named Yuuto, which pays with a ticket to London. Minako tries to stop her from going, but Mio interferes and tells Usagi to get going. As Minako goes and tries to save Usagi, Mio laughs, saying, "Don't worry, she won't go to London."

After a long day of working for the guy, Usagi's hard work and effort was literally thrown out the window when Yuuto drops the ticket near the dock. Being posessed by a youma, he attacks Usagi and almost kills her, but luckily Usagi is saved by Mamoru.

Mio doesn't appear again until the end of Act 34, where she intentionally faints in front of Mamoru's bike. Like the gentleman he is, Mamoru stays with Mio until she wakes up. Mio wants to "thank him," but Mamoru declines. She continues to pursue him, and finds him on a bridge. Reaching out to him, Mamoru smacks her hand away before it touches him. As a last resort, Mio throws herself into his arms, and at this moment we see a glimpse of who Mio really is: Beryl's shadow. Mio continues to hold onto Mamoru and as black petals swirl around them, brainwashing him. Taking his hand, she leads him towards the rooftop of a nearby building, but is interfered by Kunzite, Endymion, Sailor Venus and Sailor Moon.

Soon, Beryl makes it Mio's sole mission to destroy Usagi and Mamoru's relationship, and keep Mamoru within the Dark Kingdom. She tries to get him to kill Usagi, and become Queen Beryl's king, threatening him with a painting that will steal his life force until he complies.

After torturing him for over ten episodes, Mamoru decides to absorb Queen Metaria so that he can stop her from destroying the planet, but the evil force instead takes over him. Mio supposedly meets her downfall at his hands, being electrocuted and turing to rose petals.
